Who is Platinum Dermatology Partners, and how are they related to patient care at my dermatology office?
Platinum Dermatology Partners is a physician-led network of board-certified dermatologists and providers who have come together to create a single, physician-led dermatology practice. We are independent of any large health system and proudly physician-centric.
Platinum is not a name that many in the public will recognize. Our network of practices is each known by its individual practice names, which have become a staple of the communities it has served over the decades.

I have a BCBSTX health plan. What does that mean for me?
As of March 2, Platinum will be out of network for some BCBSTX members. Unfortunately, that means that BCBSTX will increase your out-of-pocket costs when you see your Platinum physician or provider. Please contact your physician’s office. Together, we will help determine the best next steps.
If you are in the middle of a treatment regimen, you may be able to continue to see your physician through what is called Continuity of Care.
To request continuity of care from BCBSTX, please follow the instructions and submit the following document to BCBSTX. Our practice is here to help you with any portions of the form that are not clear.

How can I continue seeing my Platinum physician or provider?
If you have BCBSTX insurance and would like to continue seeing your Platinum physician or provider, please contact your physician’s office. Together, we will help determine the best next steps.
If you receive employer benefits, we strongly encourage you to discuss options with your employer to keep your physician.
-
What should I do if I have a visit scheduled on or after March 2?
We are here to help you. If you have an appointment scheduled, it’s business as usual. We look forward to seeing you!
If you have questions, please contact your physician’s office and they will be happy to explore options with you.

Who can I contact with questions? Can I change insurance plans to a plan that includes Platinum in-network?
Talk to your employer to understand what options are available. Some employers offer a second insurance option that includes Platinum.
Call BCBSTX at the number on the back of your insurance card to learn how your costs and access to care will be impacted based on your specific benefits plan.
-
Why haven’t you reached an agreement with BCBSTX?
We have worked hard for several months on a new contract with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX). While BCBSTX has been willing to offer rate increases to many other healthcare providers across North Texas, the payment rates we receive from BCBSTX have essentially remained unchanged for many years when adjusted for inflation.
In fact, recently released publicly available data shows that Blue Cross pays other Metroplex dermatology clinics as much as 70% more. We think that is surprising and unfair, particularly considering that we provide care in a more cost-effective setting.
