Important Update for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas Patients

To our valued patients with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX) Insurance: 
 
We are pleased to share some positive developments in our negotiations with BCBSTX. These updates mean that nearly all of our BCBSTX-insured patients will continue to be covered as in-network at Platinum Dermatology Partners. We understand how important your in-network access is, and we have worked hard to reach a solution that benefits you. Below we outline what this means for your coverage: 
 
Continued In-Network Coverage for Most BCBSTX Plans 

  • All March claims will be processed in-network: Any visits or services you received in March will be treated as in-network by BCBSTX, ensuring you receive the in-network benefits for those claims. 

  • Medicare Advantage plans remain in-network: Platinum Dermatology Partners will continue to be an in-network provider for all Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas Medicare Advantage plans. If you have a BCBSTX Medicare Advantage plan, you can continue to visit our practice with in-network coverage as before. 

These outcomes reflect our commitment to maintaining broad access to care. For the vast majority of our patients with BCBSTX coverage, nothing will change – you can continue receiving care at our offices with in-network benefits. 
 
Out-of-Network Status for BCBSTX Exchange Plans:
 
While most BCBSTX plans are unaffected, please note the exception for certain BCBSTX Exchange (Health Insurance Marketplace) products. Platinum Dermatology Partners will remain out-of-network for the following BCBSTX Exchange plans: 

  • Blue Choice PPO 

  • Blue Choice PPO with Health Advocacy Solutions 

  • Blue Cross Medicare Advantage (HMO) 

  • Blue Cross Medicare Advantage Dual Care (HMO SNP) 

  • Blue Cross Medicare Advantage (PPO) 

  • Blue Cross Medicare Advantage Flex (PPO) 

  • Blue Cross Group Medicare Advantage Open Access (PPO) 

  • Blue Essentials 

  • ERS Participant ID Cards 

  • TRS Participant ID Cards 

 
If you are enrolled in My Blue Health or Blue Advantage HMO, services at our practice will be considered out-of-network under your plan. This means your costs may be higher for visits to our offices if you have one of these specific plans. We want to make sure you are aware of this so you can make informed decisions about your care. (These are the only BCBSTX plans where our services are out-of-network – all other BCBSTX plans, including PPOs and Medicare Advantage, are in-network with us).

Questions About Your Coverage:

We understand that insurance coverage can be confusing, and you may have questions about your specific plan. For any questions or clarification about your benefits, we encourage you to contact Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas directly. BCBSTX customer service can confirm whether your particular plan is in-network with Platinum Dermatology Partners and explain what your out-of-pocket costs would be if you have an out-of-network plan. The phone number for BCBSTX member inquiries is usually listed on the back of your insurance card. Reaching out to them is the best way to get accurate information tailored to your policy.
